Legal and Executive Services
Small and medium size businesses often require executive level resources to truly move to the next level – yet many key executive functions are not necessary, or cost-effective, on a full-time basis. athena partners has experience providing interim or part-time executive level services (Corporate Counsel, CFO or CEO) to small and medium size businesses, and can work closely with boards and management teams to achieve desired outcomes. The Principals have both served on corporate boards as part of client engagements.
Financial Restructuring
Companies often need to consider alternative plans or structures to deal effectively with problems and opportunities. We help clients to achieve and create appropriate ownership, leadership and capital structures to promote a company’s strategic vision and goals, with particular attention to improving both cash flow and valuation for stakeholders.
Exit Strategies
The owner must consider the sometimes diverse needs of family members and long term employees. We understand family business issues and bring objective advice and counsel to assist our clients to identify alternatives and accomplish their objectives. Furthermore, as part of our wealth management services we consider the risk of a closely held or concentrated position and assist in diversifying the position in relation to the total portfolio.
Strategic Planning and Development
For committed and talented business owners, boards and management teams, we have provided assessments and evaluations of new business opportunities, acquisitions and divestitures, including assistance with the sale of business units or additional access to capital that may be required. athena partners has reviewed and developed the objectives, strategies, risks and expected financial results of new client ventures, including analysis of historical data, market research, and the development of comprehensive forecasts and pro forma financial statement presentations typically required by serious equity and debt investors.
Independent Director Services
Companies often have board of directors that are populated with founders, families, friends, and early investors. The interests represented by this disparate group do not always align with the best interests of the company or principal shareholders. An independent director can bring balance to a board by being more impartial and objective – particularly when competing interests of the founders, executives, and investor board members may be limiting progress on important issues. Additionally, an independent director can bring specific expertise in areas (strategy, finance, legal, industry, etc.) that may strengthen a board’s effectiveness, improve performance and enhance shareholder perceptions of corporate leadership. Our team has served on and assisted boards as part of client engagements.
